It was a hot sunny day and they melted, a dog licked them up, and barfed them up on the sidewalk. Someone, picked them up on the bottom of their shoe, walked into the computer room, without taking the shoes off. They now live in your rug, and that's where the faint sounds you hear late at night are coming from. They are alive, but not well.
Good summation and fairly accurate prediction. At what time do they make the most 'faint' noise? The occupant of the room has been having nightmares. Maybe there is a connection.
